The LNA training program will prepare eligible candidates to practice as nursing assistants in a professional role, in providing direct patient care, communication, infection control, safety and body mechanics, legal and ethical issues. The course is a combination of classroom, lab and clinical practice in a medical setting.
At completion, students will be prepared to sit for the state certification examination and submit their Board of Nursing LNA license application. Active in Practice Requirements.
Board of Nursing Home APRN hours active in practice specialty in the 4 years immediately preceding date of application. If newly graduated as an APRN within the previous 2 years before licensure, program coursework and clinical count for 1st renewal.
LNA A minimum of hours of nursing assistant related activities under the supervision of a licensed nurse within the 2 years immediately prior to the date of application or successful completion of nursing assistant competency testing within 2 years prior to date of application. MNA A minimum of 50 hours of medication nursing assistant related activities under the supervision of a licensed nurse within the 2 years immediately prior to the date of application. Most states charge a fee for this service.
A day temporary license may be issued allowing you to work as a LNA in the state of Vermont while you are waiting for verification from your initial state of licensure or most recent state of work history to arrive to the Vermont Board of Nursing office. The day temporary license can not be extended. In either of these cases, you must pass both portions of the NNAAP examination within two years from the completion date of the out-of-state training program or within three test attempts, whichever comes first, in order to be placed on the Vermont Nursing Assistant Registry.
