How to install a failed windows vista update

I could do a repair install on my computer and I wouldn't lose any data but that will take along time and I am trying to avoid it. I need to find a solution for this issue. Thanks for your feedback.

If you need more of the log file just let me know. Here it is. One last thing I forgot to mention, when I ran that command from cmd you gave me I noticed while it was running I got a lot of access is denied messages even though I ran the command as an administrator.

Is that supposed to happen or not. Ok well in that case I will probably run the repair install later tonight so I can let it run while I sleep.

I appreciate your help Arie. After the reinstall, if I experience any more issues with my computer concerning windows update I will let you know. Thanks again. Hi again Arie. I did the repair install and everything is working good and all is well. I greatly appreciate your time and effort trying to help me out with my issue. All of the Windows Vista Updates including the 3 that I mentioned that wouldn't install , installed successfully. So that just shows that I had a missing or corupted Windows file that was preventing the updates from installing.

That was my 4th time having to reinstall Windows Vista. I just hope I won't have to do it again in the future if something else were to go wrong on my system. Anyway thanks again for your help. Thank you for the advice on solving this problem.

I found this thread via a Google search. I was having the same problem with the same updates. No matter how many times the updates were downloaded and installed, Windows insisted on doing it over again.

And, again. And, again! The solution on this page did not work either, but it did prompt me to think of another solution that did work. Hopefully this will be of some help to others having the same or similar issue. I simply downloaded and installed the updates one at a time. It took forever, but the alternative was to keep downloading and having failed installs.

The end result is that the updates are installed now. Edit: I guess I spoke too soon. KB will not install properly. When I tried to install it manually, I got a message telling me that I do not have enough space. I assure you, I do have enough space. The second time I tried to install it, I was told that the update is not for this OS "This update does not apply to your system ".

I wish I could go back to XP Pro. If I could solve that problem, I'd be using XP in a minute. Back to the drawing board with this update. CraigM ,. Hi CraigM. I'm sorry that some of the updates you mentioned failed to install. In my case the reason the updates failed was because of a missing or corrupted syste file. Then click on the link for the specific update and click the download button.

You will get the option to run or save the download, save it to your PC. Once it has completed downloading you will get an option to run, open folder, or close. Make sure all other applications are closed and select the run option. If you close this window or need to attempt to install again, just go to the location the file was saved to and double-click the file. This will begin the install process again. If the manual install fails, try turning off UAC, then attempt the install again.

Go to the Windows Update page and click Review your update history. A window will open that shows all the updates that have been installed or that have failed to install on the computer.
