Unable to install ms office

Same error on both and When I do so it cannot find the fine and cancels the installation. Could be some corruption. I would do this before wasting more time trying to fix things. Wipe, install, then install Office right away, before anything else.

That eliminate the chance of some other step causing the problem. Selfstudy is an IT service provider. Make sure to uninstall Get Office application. Also does not mix well with any other version. And whatever else Office related is installed. I'm now getting the same error on the ISO as with the existing images I use have used these for over a year no problem. What group policies is it subject to? The way some of ours work to keep ransomware at bay also cause Office installs to fail.

Upon completion I move the computer back into the appropriate GPO. To continue this discussion, please ask a new question. Get answers from your peers along with millions of IT pros who visit Spiceworks. I am thoroughly confused, any ideas Spiceheads? Please check the source path of your installation file. Make sure the SourcePath is correct when you install Office.

What is the smallest single application that I can use for testing? I don't want to download all of that again, our connection at the office is only 10mbps. Is the so called "host not found" error the cause of the installation error? How can I force it to install in offline mode? Every time the error changes it still asks about the internet connection Changing the source to ".

For the offline install, that's what I'm attempting isn't it? Office Business didn't seem to have an offline download link at all when I followed those instructions. The Advanced button only let me choose language and 32 or 64 bit downloads, but never an offline download option. I will try that link again and see if I get different results, but it seems that I have already downloaded it with ODT and I just need to install it.

If I've downloaded it I'm not sure what it even needs an internet connection for now except for validation. This is a reliable 10mbps connection, it's just not as fast as I have at home so I have to wait for things to download if I change the package selection for instance. So I screw around with various path formattings and every one of them mentioned internet connection. And here's the kicker. This same pattern repeats even if I put the computer completely offline. Also happens if I hotspot the laptop to my phone instead of connecting to the internal network.

So the issue persists with two different external networks, so if there is network configuration issue, it would be internal on this machine.

The only significant change on this machine between when I was originally able to install Office Pro Plus msi and now that I can't install it as MSI or as click to run was the change to the Azure domain I'm following it step by step, it's downloading something else again and I will report back.

There doesn't seem to be a "click here to download file and then go offline and it will install just fine" button. Does anyone know how to read that log file? Error Code: 0. At least with ODT I can get a logfile. That would explain all the network calls in the log file. Could this whole issue be as simple as a folder permission for the temp download or extraction location? There definately may have been some sort of permissions change during the domain change Might It explain the problem with all the installers even running as Administrator?

The RemoveMSI tag is the only item that changes the error code from 0 to I still haven't found a resource that explains what all these different error codes means though. Searching for 0 pulls lots of results talking about language packs. I know it's a little messy, but I tried to sanitize the log file a little by searching for "Error" and there are only 13 hits on merely 5 lines. So the above paste is the second error. That path appears to be accurate, there is infact a v So I tried editing the source path to be absolute instead of relative.

I even removed the spaces to make sure there wasn't an escape character double quote issue going on. Back to old faithful generic BS.

What am I missing here? Lets look in the log file. The first error is this:. This is the same first error on line 3, followed by a prerequisite error on line 37, including this snip:. Some more shows me this reddit clip with a similar problem to what I started with: Install starts up UAC and then disappears, exactly my initial problem and the only reason I am even using ODT at all.

I contacted the OP on reddit to find out if Level 3 support was able to help him fix his issue because I suspect there will be a lot of commonality with my issue. I'll add that editing the config file to use the absolute path did clear the invalid path error from previous attempts.

The error 0 is the same error I got when trying to install the bit download before I ever tried ODT. If I can fix that I think I can get this working.

You can download the whole Office Business product to local drive then use another configuration. After finish downloading, create InstallWord. I turned logging on in the InstallWord. I tested with my machine and no issue with my. I can install only Word without issue:. Maybe there is any issue on your computer. Please disable any third-party antispam programs.

I have removed all additional programs to keep things very lean. I have also tried with a new profile and get the same errors. That link lists so many things, and I have done them oall. Can anyone explain the entries in the log file? The installer seems to be looking for something but not finding it. Reading through the log I can see the installer checking several conditions and passing each one, until it gets here and suddenly fails.

Exiting bootstrapper. It errors out right away, but but reading the exceptions I see a commonality. I suspect the uninstall of the MSI version of corrupted the registry, and this subroutine is very sad. Try to open the Task Scheduler, expand Microsoft, confirm if there is an Office folder listed.

Try to delete the Office folder entirely from Task Scheduler and re-ran setup again. My understanding is that is for when you want to garb the offline files from a local network server instead of MS servers.

If you are replying to me because I said the following, you are looking in the wrong place. I am not referring to look in Program Files or similar in the usual places for installed items.

What I am referring to here is what happens when you use the ODT. In this case, you should have ended up with a folder called "Office" right alongside your setup. Now when you run configure - by default, it will use the files from this Office folder as the installation source - UNLESS you specified an external location you wish to pull the source files from.

It is not needed if you are doing just one PC. AT least this is my understanding of sourcepath, and an MS person can correct if I am wrong, but this is how it is working for me. Everything seems to be working fine using the source path. From what I've read there is no reason to have both a download and a config file, at least not in my case as I am only deploying this to one machine. I've tried these steps with two files whenever somone has suggested to break it down that way but.

I should probably specify a version as a new version is released every week I think. I've got 3 different versions downloaded now, for both 32 and bit from the last several weeks of fighting with this. I can't believe how many hours I've spent on this. This is interesting, looking further into that MsiEnumProductsEx function. This function is looking for instances using the SID of a user. I don't know much about SIDs, but is it possible for my user SID to have changed when the machine was moved from the old domain to the Azure domain?

I had office MSI installed no problem before the domain change, and all the problems started after trying to remove, which was AFTER the domain change I'm grasping at straws here. Looking at the Installer userdata in the registry I see only 2 SIDs, and one of them has all of my user data. Looking through the keys I see a few things that stand out. Here is the odd thing I don't understand. Program files On the off chance that only some corrupt "user" level keys are what's stopping it from installing, haven't re-read all your posts, have you tried to create a new temporary local user and assign it admin privileges?

See if you can install under that user successfully, but then use the software under your original user login. In pretty much the exact same boat here - been working on this for a while, but still always get that error pretty much instantly. Very interested to see if you find a resolution that doesn't involve a system reset - not about to reconfigure this machine just for office. Now that I am on the trail of corrupt registry entries I went through to uninstall everything possible and a few things did not uninstall.

I was able to reinstall AutoDesk trueview and then uninstall it, and a few items I used Special Uninstaller to scan and uninstall, then went through the listed registry orphans and manually verified and deleted them.

No luck, and it doesn't see office at all either since I used the office uninstaller in the past. There are so many registry entries for office in there still, and I recognize a certain key pattern as well that is basically "office" with zeros and ones cleverly replacing o and I.

Run the unsintall tool If you want to keep Office you should know that Microsoft is aware of the installation problems, so they released a Fix-it tool to properly uninstall the product. Some reported that this fixed the issue, but there are some users who are still facing the issue, as well.

Maybe your current antivirus prevents Office from installing. So, disable your antivirus and then try to install Office again. So, did you manage to install Office yet?
